Dawn M. Harter

Dawn M. Harter, age 74, of Wapwallopen, passed away on April 4, 2026, at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Berwick, with her husband by her side.

Born in Berwick on March 31, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Dean and Myra (Slusser) Eckart. She was a 1971 graduate of Berwick High School. She worked as the quality control manager for the former Consolidated Containers in Berwick and was retired after thirty plus years.

Dawn was a member of St John’s United Church of Christ, Wapwallopen where she enjoyed volunteering for the Apple and Peach festivals. She was a member of the YMCA Berwick; and avid reader when her eyesight was still allowed. She especially loved going to all her grandchildren’s sporting  events.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert E. Harter Sr.; son, Robert E Harter, Jr. and his wife Melanie of Nanticoke; daughter, Erica D. Pyzia and her husband Edward of Wapwallopen; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Olivia, Trentyn, Miranda; siblings, Toni Rehkop of  South Carolina, Dorothy Spaide Louisiana, Terry Eckart, and Arthur “Billy” Eckart both of Danville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Eckart.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 11, 2026  from 9:00 am up until the time of Service at 11:00 am at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E Third St., Nescopeck, PA. Interment will take place in Old River Road Cemetery, Wapwallopen at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions are suggested to St. John’s U.C.C., 416 Church St. Wapwallopen, PA 18660.

The family would like to thank the staff at Glen Brook for their compassion and care that was given to Dawn while she was a resident there.
