Virginia M. Wolfe, age 83, of Berwick passed away Friday August 7, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Lookout, PA on March 10, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Buell and Jessie (Hazen) Bortree. She was a graduate of Damascus High School. Ginny worked as an LPN for a period of time.
After marrying , she moved to Berwick and had a dressmaking business and enjoyed free lance writing for various publications. She was also a member of the Songwriter’s Guild. She spent her life being a devoted wife and mother providing a loving and welcoming home. She loved her children ,grandchildren ,and great grandchildren.
Virginia enjoyed traveling yearly to a mountain cabin with her sister in law and also traveling with her family to the beach in Ocean City. She studied holistic healing and received her certification in Reiki.
Ginny was known for her kindness and helped many people in many ways. She often volunteered for various organizations. She was talented and creative and freely shared her gifts with others.
She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband with whom she spent 61 years, Charlie W. Wolfe; daughter, Jessie Wolfe-Parsons and husband David, Maryland; sons, Charles W. Wolfe, and wife JoAnn, Berwick; and James R. Wolfe and wife Heather, Nescopeck; grandchildren, Jessica Wolfe and husband George; Anne Wolfe-Hartley and husband Nash; Carlynn Brown and husband Elijah; Jacob Wolfe and wife Keana; Rafe Parsons; and Kendahl Parsons; and 5 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind brother, John Bortree, Equinunk, PA; sister-in-law, Bonnie Bortree, Ny; and brother-in-law, Richard Finch,Berwick.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Buell Bortee, Russell Bortee, Joseph Bortee, Raymond Bortee, William Bortree; and sisters Lavonne Corcoran, Diane Finch, and an infant sister Bortree.
Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
