Linda L. Boone, age 75, of Orangeville, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Berwick on September 4, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Wanda (Harvey) Gunther. She was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1970. Linda worked in several fields throughout her life, including as an aide for socially and emotionally disabled children in the Berwick School District, a bulldozer operator at Brunner Island, and later as a material handler for PP&L at Hazleton and the Susquehanna Power Plant.
In 1971, Linda married her soulmate, Jody D. Boone. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, strength, and an unwavering commitment to their family. Their 55 years together were a true reflection of the love they shared.
Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother who poured her heart into her family and never missed a special moment in her grandchildren’s lives. When her children were young, she was a Girl Scout leader, softball little league coach, and 4-H leader. She had an extraordinary heart and a natural instinct to help others. If someone needed a hand, a listening ear, or simply someone to show up, Linda was there. She gave freely of her time, her energy, and her love, often without ever expecting anything in return.
Linda enjoyed gardening, crafts, and working with her hands. She was strong, hardworking, fiercely loyal, and deeply devoted to the people she loved. Her greatest joy was her family, and the love she gave them will continue to live on through generations.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jody Boone; loving daughters, Polly Pluta and husband Ted, Carlisle; and Tonia Burton and husband Dan, Denver, PA; cherished grandchildren, Ted and fiancée Mary, Henry, Lydia, Vincent, Charlie and fiancée Sierra, Gavi, Sam, and Danny. She was looking forward to meeting her first great-grandson this November. She also leaves behind a brother, Thomas Gunther; a sister, Cindy Kemp; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jody Boone II in November 2006, and a brother, Glen Gunther in infancy.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of her family.
