Anthony J. Procida, 80, of Berwick passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 22, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Berwick on July 6, 1935, he was a son of late Dominick and Theresa (Marsicano) Procida. He attended Berwick High School, and served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959. He was employed at Sacco’s Beer Distributor and, most recently, Tuzzi’s Bakery in Berwick.
Anthony was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Berwick. He was a member of the Maria Assunta, the Garibaldi Club and the Catholic War Vets, all in Berwick. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends on Monday nights. He followed football, always rooting for the Steelers, Nittany Lions, and Bulldogs, and in baseball, the Pittsburg Pirates. He enjoyed bird watching, and knew the names of many birds. In his younger years, he liked going fishing, and loved gardening as long as his health allowed.
He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Frances Zinich, Berwick, Carolyn Graziano, Wilkes Barre, Nancy Ann Procida, Berwick; brother, Joseph Procida, Berwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Frank, Angelo, and Ralph Procida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Berwick, with his pastor, Reverend Dennis Dalessandro officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Berwick. Family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
