Dennis Wayne “Denny” Slusser

Dennis Wayne “Denny” Slusser, 60, of Berwick passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 21, 2016 at his home, following a sudden illness.

Born in Berwick on July 31, 1955, he was a wonderful son to Eloise M. “Tip” (Lynn) Slusser, of Berwick, and the late Orval D. “Red” Slusser. He was a 1973 graduate of Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, where he was trained in automotive refinishing. He worked at several places over the years including, Sweet Valley True Value Hardware, Brookside Homes in Danville, Deluxe Homes in Berwick, Automatic Vending, EPSCO, and most recently for the state as a manager at Risk Youth, Eckley.

Denny was a dedicated life member of Defender Fire Company where he served as a past Chief and was the current Treasurer. He was a social member of West Berwick Fire Company, and attended Bethany Bible Church, Berwick. He liked fishing and kayaking, and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Denny had an awesome sense of humor, and was a loving and caring man to everyone, especially his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 22 years, Virginia (Sliker) Slusser; daughter, Amanda Zwalkuski and husband Brandon, Bloomsburg; and granddaughter, Zoey. He was looking forward to the birth of a second grandchild in June. He also leaves behind a sister, Shirley A. Felker, Berwick; nephews, Bryce Felker and wife Crystal, Blake Felker and wife Jessica. He was a great uncle to Cody, Tessa, Grace Lyn and Meko Felker. Denny will be missed by many will be greatly missed by his “family” at Defender.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gordon “Skip” Felker.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Defender Fire Company, Berwick on April 2, 2016 beginning at 2:00 PM.
