Rocco N. Talanca

Rocco N. Talanca, 82, of Berwick passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

in Berwick on September 11, 1933, he was the last surviving of 13 children of the late Leon and Josephine (Silvetti) Talanca. He attended Berwick Schools and served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1954. Rocco was employed as a supervisor at Fulton Lamp Factory, Berwick for 15 years, until its closing. He also worked for the CETA program in Berwick, and later at Bloomsburg University, until his retirement.

Rocco attended St. Joseph’s Church, Berwick. He enjoyed working in his garden, going fishing and going to yard sales. He played the piano, the guitar, and on occasion tried singing. He spent Tuesday nights shooting pool with his son. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine C. (Balazs) Talanca on December 18, 2011; sisters, Josephine Holts, Dolores Goldman, Anniette Koshinski, Adaline Kuchala, Mary Halsey, Margaret Reichert, Ann Baron, and Erma Talanca; and brothers, Earl, Vito, Peter and Leo Talanca.

He will be greatly missed by his sons, Mark Talanca and wife Rose, Wapwallopen; Steven Talanca and wife Linda, Berwick; Richard Talanca; St Lucie, FL; daughters, Kelly Robinson, and Terry Bethman, both of Berwick; grandchildren, Jessica Bair, Rocco Robinson, Dominique Daum, Desiree Robinson, Kayla Buck, Brandon Mowery; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many people who he helped through recovery over the years.

A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. Family will receive friends from 5:00 till the service begins. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
