Julia Ann Deeley, 70, formerly of Berwick, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where she was a patient for the past 2 weeks.
Born in Philadelphia on September 17, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Harry R. and Elizabeth M. (Winters) Goodwin. She was a 1956 graduate of Lincoln College Prep and earned her associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from James Martin Vocation School in 1982. She was employed as a Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician at Geisinger Medical Center, and retired from Berwick Hospital Center after 25 years of service.
Julie was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Berwick. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and baking. She loved caring for and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her loving daughters, Julie C. Deeley, Forty-Fort; Katie E. Thoryk and husband Tim, Berwick; son, Fred W. Deeley, New Jersey; cherished grandchildren, Kiely, Brandon, Lizzy and Fred Martin, Robbie, Madison and Aliyah Deeley, Wyatt, Morgan and Timothy Thoryk; sister, Debra Bonikowski and husband Eddie, Philadelphia; son-in-law, Ken Martin; sister-in-law, Linda Goodwin; nephews, Eddie Kalesse, Richard and Joseph Hinchliffe, Kevin Posidowski, and Raymond Goodwin; and nieces, Danielle Kishbaugh, Donna Ruttle, and Denise Caracofe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Goodwin; sisters, Patricia El Sawa and Marion Goodwin.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck with Reverend Dennis Dalessandro officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
