Marie Ella DeFelice, of Berwick, PA was called home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the age of 91.
Marie was born on June 21, 1925 in Beach Haven, PA, to the late Benjamin McAfee and Laura (Miller) Franklin. She graduated from Berwick High School. Marie worked at Beach Haven Laundry and Berwick Hospital Center from 1953 to 1975. After her retirement, she continued doing various jobs in the area including, housekeeping at Berwick Senior Center.
Marie attended the Salvation Army Church and Bible Studies. She served as President and Secretary of the Evan Owens Social Club. She was fond of raising birds with her husband and spending time and traveling with her granddaughter Elaine. Marie was also a longtime fan of professional wrestling.
Marie was proud of her younger brother, the late Leroy C. McAfee, who served with the Allied forces during WWII in the US Navy as a Seaman 1st Class, and was awarded a Purple Heart in 1944 for injuries sustained during a German air raid.
Marie will be greatly missed by her daughter, Penny Hampton and husband Gary of Nescopeck; son, Dennis “Skip” Thomas and wife Sandy of Ulster, PA; grandchildren, Elaine Reyes and husband Roman, Amanda Thomas, Sarah Abrams and husband Brent, Daniel Thomas and wife Merilee, great-granddaughter Lainy Thomas, and great-grandson Lucas Thomas; her sister, Sharon Tablone (Franklin) and her husband Tom; as well as a niece and nephews.
A final viewing will be held for friends and family at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. A Funeral Service will follow at Noon, led by Lay Pastor, Ronald Beach. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
