Eulee Hazlip Shoemaker, 96, of Shickshinny died on Thursday, October 20, 2016, in Berwick Retirement Village, where she was a resident for the past five years. Previously, she resided in Shickshinny Valley for over sixty years.
Born January 9th, 1920, in Hazlethurts, GA, she was a daughter of the late William Claude and Ruby (Crosby) Hazlip. She was raised and educated in Jeff Davis County, GA. Throughout her younger years she worked on her family cotton and tobacco farm. In the early 1940’s she moved to Macon, Georgia where she was employed by the Macon Naval Ordinance Plant and met her husband, Clyde Shoemaker. After they moved to Pennsylvania, she was employed at Luzerne Outerwear, Shickshinny until she retired.
Eulee was very active in her community and a lifelong member at the Full Gospel Church, Shickshinny Valley.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clyde Shoemaker; one brother Harold Hazlip; and five sisters, Norma Dyal, Vernice Pipkins, Lillian Beck, Geneva Newham, and Caroline Hazlip.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Billy Hazlip and his wife Pearl of Hillard, FL; James Shoemaker and his wife Helen of Shickshinny, PA; and daughter Wanda Gengler and her husband Jeff of Orange City, FL. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Claudine Adams of Uvalda, GA.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, September 25, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, with Pastor Frank Bogdon officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Cemetery, Bloomsburg. Family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 PM.
