Glen E. Laubach

Glen E. & Lois L. (FARVER) LAUBACH, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, on their 50th wedding anniversary, 23 August 1998.

Glen E. Laubach, 91, of Berwick passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Gardens at Millville, where he was a patient for the past few months.

Born in Berwick on December 15, 1924, he was the son of the late Daniel M. and Marea T. (Hess) Laubach. He attended Berwick High School. Glen served honorably in the US Army during WWII with the 3rd Infantry Division, where he marched beginning in North Africa and Sicily, through Italy, France, and Germany. He earned several medals including a Bronze Arrowhead, Purple Heart and the French Fourragere. After being discharged he ran an ash route in the Berwick area. He worked at RCA in Lancaster for 20 years. Most recently, he owned and operated Glens Garage, Berwick, for 35 years until he retired.

Glen was a member of the VFW Post 1690 and American Legion Post 34 in Lancaster. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, archery and sport shooting, and antique and classic cars. He loved his dogs and cats.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Lois L. (Farver) Laubach in 2008; sister, June Hough and husband Wayne; brothers, Robbie Laubach and wife Ann, Eugene “Pete” Laubach; niece, Gayle Marie Siro; and several in-laws, cousins and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Polly and husband Mark Eckrote, Berwick; brother Horace Laubach and wife Sandra, Berwick; sister-in-law, Marcyl Laubach, Berwick; and many nieces and nephews including Dr. Steve Laubach, FL and Randy Laubach, Berwick.

At Glen’s request there will be no viewing or funeral service. Military honors will be provided for Glen on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Rose Lawn Cemetery, West Front Street, Berwick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal rescue or military organization of the donor’s choice.
