Carl H. Whitenight, 88, of Nescopeck passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Berwick Retirement Village, where he was a patient for the past year.
Born in Berwick on September 23, 1928, he was a son of the late Vincent R. and Eva M. (East) Whitenight. He graduated from Berwick High School in 1947, and served honorably in the US Army from 1950 to 1952, where he earned the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. He worked for 36 years at Wise Potato Chips, Berwick.
Carl was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Nescopeck, and the F&AM Lodge 0673, Avoca, NY. He was an avid Buffalo Bills football fan; and he enjoyed yardwork and golfing.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Constance M. “Connie” (Hess) Whitenight; son, Stephen F. Whitenight and wife Linda, Berwick; daughter, Cynthia A. McPherson and husband Larry, Camden, NC; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bernice Whitenight and Claire Schuyler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, George, William and Robert Whitenight; sisters, Jean Whitenight, Gladys Miller, Arlene Varner and Joyce Bradshaw. Carl was the last of his immediate family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 401 Broad Street, Nescopeck, with Reverend Craig Gommer officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
