Eleanor Jane Rinehimer, 84 of Hobbie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Berwick Retirement Village II, where she was a guest since August.
Born in Hollenbach Township on July 5, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Sterling L. and Cleo (Weiss) Peters. She graduated from Nescopeck High School and Williamsport School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Retreat State Hospital, and later in labor and delivery at Berwick Hospital. She finished her career as a nurse at Berwick Forge and Fabricating.
Eleanor was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ, Hobbie, where she played the organ for church services and the piano for Sunday School. She also attended Bible Study. She enjoyed painting and gardening. She was a member of the Weeds and Wildflowers Garden Club of Hobbie, and the Eastern Star Chapter 228, Berwick. She liked going to yard sales and estate sales. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her son, David Rinehimer and wife Donna, Slocum; daughter, Mary Mitchem, Berwick; grandchildren, Matthew Rinehimer and wife Kaylan; Lynn Rinehimer Zepp and husband Justin; Stephanie Mitchem; brother Lydon Peters and wife Carol, Hobbie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clayton A. Rinehimer, Jr in 2011; sister, Shirley Harmon and husband Clayton; and sister-in-law, Teloiv Peters.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at St. Peters United Church of Christ, Hobbie, with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Gene Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Silver Maple Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
