Hattie R. Livziey, 95, formerly of Mifflinville passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She had been residing at Signature Health Care, Bloomsburg since 2015.
Born in Kulpmont on June 14, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Margaret (White) Beaver. She graduated from Mifflinville High School as a valedictorian in 1940, and attended Bloomsburg Hospital School of Nursing. Hattie worked at Mifflinville Knitting Mills, before becoming a driver at Club Cab Company, Berwick. She later bought the company, which she ran until her retirement.
Hattie was an active member of Mifflinville United Methodist Church, where she held numerous offices, was a Sunday School teacher, and helped to make Easter eggs. She was one of the founders of the Mifflinville Christian Adventure Club, and a former member of the Ladies of the Moose. In her younger years, she liked bowling at the P-Nut Bowl. She loved reading, and visiting with shut-ins. She greatly cherished her family and spending time with them.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Paul “Steve” Livziey and wife Donna, Mifflinville; Thomas Livziey, Sr., Mifflinville; daughter, Eileen Dietterick, Nescopeck; 10 grandchildren, Brenda Rehm, Scott Livziey, Wendy Daily, Steve Livziey, Jessica Giudicessi, Dennis Dietterick, Rebecca Matos, Katie Lyons, Thomas Livziey, Jr, and Stephen Shoemaker; 19 great grandchildren, Michael Ridall; Alyson, Chad and Tyler Livziey; Frank IV, and Lea Rehm; Ashlee Davis; Kayla Collins; Adia, Raine and Amaris Matos, Aveon Matos-Pigford; Jasmine Lyons; Nathan and Austin Daily; Cody and Emma Dietterick; Alyssa Coleman; Garrett Aten; and 3 great-great grandchildren, Luke and Liam Ridall; and Aurora Aten.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Livziey, Sr in 2006; son, William Livziey, Jr in 2014; daughter, Ellen Ann Livziey at birth; granddaughter, Teresa Livziey Ridall in 2006; brothers, Charles and Edward Beaver; sisters, Rev. Viola Rothacker, Grace Blue and Margaret VanBuskirk Stevens. She was the last of her immediate family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck with Rev. John Bondhus officiating. Interment will follow in Mifflinville Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Friday.
