James H. Masteller, 73, of Berwick passed away on Thursday evening, February 23, 2017 at Berwick Retirement Village II, where he was a patient for the past few weeks.
Born in Berwick on January 8, 1944, he was a son of the late Harold “Toot” and Phyllis E. (Heckman) Masteller. He graduated from Nescopeck High School in 1962 and Williamsport Area Community College, where he earned his degree in Drafting and Design Technology. After college, he worked for Ganette Flemming in Harrisburg, then Cordry and Carpenter, Reading and later, Kennedy Van Saun in Danville. He retired from Rado Enterprises, Bloomsburg, where he was employed for over 20 years.
Jim was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Mifflinville Congregation. He was a parent member of the Nescopeck Hunting and Rifle Club. “Moose”, as many knew him, enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as coin collecting and tinkering on cars. He also liked riding his electric scooter all around Berwick.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of nearly 43 years, Rowena (Motter) Masteller; sons, Aaron “A.J.” Masteller and wife Karen, Berwick; Steven Masteller and wife Stacy, Nescopeck; cherished grandchildren, Gavin, Andon and Sage; brother, Thomas Masteller and wife Glenda, Hazleton; sister-in-law, Meri Lu Masteller; and several nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel D. Masteller.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck.
Interment will take place at Noon on March 4, 2017 in Elan Memorial Park, Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on March 4th at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1014 West Street, Mifflinville, lead by Scott Watkins. Fellowship with the family will follow.
