Fillmore A. Stout. Jr.

Fillmore A. Stout, Jr, 85, of Shickshinny, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at home.

Born on March 17, 1932 in Shickshinny, he was the son of the late Lenora M. (Gensel) and Fillmore A. Stout, Sr. Fillmore served honorably in the US Airforce during the Korean War from 1950 until 1954. Over the years, he worked at several businesses including Tobyhanna Army Depot, Fulton Lamp, and US Steel. His passion was operating heavy machinery, which he did to help clear areas for building and construction.

Fillmore was a member of Shickshinny Valley Full Gospel Assembly Church. He loved fishing for both trout and bass, and hunting, especially with his sons. He also enjoyed woodworking. He built the house in which he and his wife lived. He also liked working on machinery and cars.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Iva M. (Garrison) Stout, Shickshinny; sons, Mark Stout and wife Laurie, Jacksonville, FL; and Mike Stout and wife Sarah, Shickshinny; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was looking forward to the fourteenth in November. He also survived by a brother, George Stout and wife Annalee, Berwick; sisters, Nancy Beach, Berwick; Lenora “Mae” Modeleski, Berwick; and Debra Williams, Stem, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elova Geotz; and a brother, Earl Stout.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck.

A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday at his home.
