Howard G. Titus

Howard G. Titus, 80, of Shickshinny passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital where he was a patient since November.

Born in Nanticoke on November 15, 1937, he was a son of the late Howard “Red” and Evelyn (Ketcham) Titus. He was raised and educated in Shickshinny. “Howie” worked at Maier’s Bakery and Tuzzi’s Bakery, Berwick. He worked in the housekeeping department at Berwick Hospital, and most recently Mohegan Sun and in the produce department at Price Chopper in Edwardsville until May 2017.

He faithfully attended Bible Baptist Church, Shickshinny, where he volunteered his time on the cleaning committee, along with his son. He loved playing checkers, going for rides in the country, and going out to eat especially at Hot Dog Johnnies in New Jersey. He enjoyed watching western movies and was a John Wayne fan.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 37 years, Jean (Ryman) Titus; daughters, Kelly Kirkland and husband Steve, Georgia; Renee Amrowski, New Jersey; sons, Randy Titus and wife Carol, Utah; Walter Titus, Shickshinny; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; sister, Ruthann Olenick, Shickshinny; brother, Barry Titus and wife Jackie, Berwick; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Douthat.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Bible Baptist Church, 43 Furnace Street, Shickshinny with Pastor Randy Boston officiating. Interment will follow in Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn. Family will receive friends on Thursday evening, January 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to his wife to help defray his final expenses.
