Denise A. Zaruta, 57, of Mifflin Township passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at home, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 9, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Maxine (Potter) Knecht. She graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1978, and later, Luzerne County Community College with a degree in early childhood development. Denise worked at Hildebrandt Learning Centers for many years, and most recently at Danville Childhood Development Center.
She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Mifflinville. Denise was a talented artist who loved painting. As a teenager she enjoyed spending her time riding horses.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 17 years, William “Bill” Zaruta; son, Joshua Beiter, California; daughter, Janae Musser and husband Casey, Exton; step-children: Alyse Jackson, Mechanicsburg and William Zaruta, Jr, Berwick; adored grandchildren, June, Adaline, Aden, and Lillian; brothers, Todd Knecht and Lance Knecht; sister, Michelle Bower and husband Barry; and several nieces and nephews.
At Denise’s request there will be no public services. Heller Funeral Home, LLC, Nescopeck is assisting her family.
A limb has fallen from the family tree,
I keep hearing a voice that says “Grieve not for me.”

The good life lived while I was strong.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family to help defray her final expenses.
