James W. Donnelly, 61, of Hobbie passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at his home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 25, 1956, he was a son of Alice A. (Phillips) Donnelly of Hobbie and the late Edward J. Donnelly Sr. He graduated from Columbia Montour Vo-Tech School and enlisted in the US Army, where he served honorably as a military police officer, stationed in Germany. Prior to retiring he worked as a team leader in the Garden Center at Lowe’s Wilkes Barre store.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a talented wood worker, who created many crafts. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and liked to watch NASCAR racing.
In addition to his mother, he will be greatly missed by his companion, Kathleen Chaffman; and daughter, Nichole Brower and husband Joseph, Hunlock Creek. He was a proud grandfather to Anastasia, and was looking forward to the birth of his second grandchild in May. He also leaves behind brothers: Edward Donnelly and wife Patricia, Berwick; Jerome Donnelly and wife Sandy, Sterling, VA; Neal Donnelly and wife Celeste, Wapwallopen; sister, Colleen Hittle and husband James, Lansdale; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Donnelly; and his grandparents.
Family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. At his request, all other services will be private at the convenience of the family.
