John A. Robbins Sr.

John A. Robbins Sr., 94, of Nescopeck, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at home.

Born in Pottsville on December 25, 1927, he was a son of the late Charles and Edith (Brown) Robbins. He spent his early childhood in Salisbury MD then relocated to Nescopeck, where he graduated from Nescopeck High School in 1944. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War ll and The Korean War. John was the operator and proprietor of his own trucking company.

John was the oldest living member of the VFW Post 8227, Nescopeck. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of Knapp Lodge where he was active in his younger years. He was also a member of the Catholic War Vets, The Moose Lodge, Bloomsburg, the Elks Lodge, Berwick, and American Legion Post 273, Bloomsburg.

John enjoyed cars, specifically hot rodding with his son. He liked going to clubs to where he was a member to socialize and enjoyed working around his house and yard.

He is survived by his son, John Robbins Jr., Kempton; daughter, Sonya Kessler and her partner Troy Hawkins, Berwick; grandchildren, Justin, Steve, Kenny; great-grandchildren, Christian, Zane, Maggie, Vivienne; brother, David Robbins; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Stewart; Margaret Ann McElrath and Carolyn Robbins; brother, Joel Robbins.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 9th at Heller Funeral Home, LLC 633 East 3rd Street, Nescopeck. Family will receive friends from 10am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VFW Post 8227, 435 W 3rd St, Nescopeck, PA 18635.
