Ida Mae Sitler

Ida Mae Sitler, 88, of Berwick passed away the afternoon of April 19, 2022, at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Born March 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Roy Oliver and Emeline Elizabeth (Kishbach) Derr.  She grew up in Nescopeck, PA and married her true love, William H. Sitler.  They were married 47 years until his passing in 1998.

Ida loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Prior to her husband’s passing she enjoyed the many road trips they would take together traveling to Canada and New York for fishing.  In her later years, she enjoyed shopping (maybe a little too much), trips to the beach, trying out new recipes, figuring out the newspaper word puzzles and laughing while reminiscing about old memories all while making new ones. She had a special love for animals and enjoyed spending time with her cats, Pinky, Patches, Buddy and Tippy.

She will be greatly missed by her sons: Allen and wife, Jarrett, Berwick; David and fiancée Evelyn Cruz, Berwick; daughters: Debbie and husband Bob Bolls, Mechanicsburg; Nancy and husband Dave Kinney, Forty Fort; grandchildren: Michelle (Sitler) Julien; Breah (Kinney) Murray; William Sitler; Andrew Sitler; Nicholas Kinney and several great grandchildren. She will be remembered by her sisters Patricia Karchner of Zenith, Donna Kacyon and husband Larry of Towanda, and sister-in-law, Dora Derr of Nescopeck, and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William H. Sitler, on February 18, 1998; stepbrother, Harry Hunsinger and wife Dorothy Hunsinger; brothers, Eugene A. “Gene” Derr and wife Inez Derr, Ray E. Derr, and David L. Derr and wife Audrey, as well as sister, Mary Alice Schmidt and her husband John Schmidt, and brother-in-law, Ray Karchner.

While Ida loved flowers, she requested that in lieu of flowers, donations instead be made to the SPCA or her church Wesley United Methodist in Nescopeck.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral service to be held Friday, April 22nd at 10:00am at Wesley United Methodist Church, 401 Broad Street, Nescopeck. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. A celebration of life will be held at the Maria Assunta following the funeral.

Ida will be deeply missed as to know her was to love her.
