Betty G. O’Handley, 75, of Berwick passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at her residence.
Born in Newfoundland, Canada on August 14, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Chesley Sr. and Marion (Rice) Winsor. She graduated from John Jay High School, Brooklyn, NY. She was later employed at Harlem Valley Secure Center, Wingdale, NY.
Betty was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Berwick. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and was a member of several quilting guilds including Quilters in Bloom, and Quilts of Valor. She also made lap quilts for nursing home patients, and pillowcases and receiving blankets for babies and children in the hospital. She also liked crafting, decorating, and gardening. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Steven Burdette, Orrville, OH; Susan Switzer, Berwick; grandchildren, Kolton Burdette, Orrville, OH; Erika Powell and husband Will, Greensboro, NC; Joshua Switzer and fiancée Sarah Owen, Berwick; Chelsea Parr and husband Christian, Mainville, Mackenzie Switzer, Berwick; great-grandchildren, Callie Parr; Grace Powell; Owen Switzer; Courtney Parr; Carra Parr. She will also be missed by siblings, Audrey Watson and husband Ron, Millerton, NY; Nancy Humbert and husband Mike, Millerton, NY; Judy Winsor, Newfoundland, Canada; Chesley Winsor Jr. and wife Nina, Alberta, Canada; brother-in-law, Mike McLaughlin, Dover Plains, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert O’Handley; and sister, Janice McLaughlin.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday June 25, 2022, at New Covenant Church, 20 Kachinka Hollow Road, Berwick.
