Bettymae R. (Roth) Shultz, age 73, of Berwick passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center.
Born in Nanticoke on April 27, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Wallace W Roth and Mae (Faux) Roth Drumheller. She was raised the Wapwallopen area and went elementary school in Wapwallopen. She later attended Greater Nanticoke Area High School. Over the years, she worked at several local factories including RCA, Mountaintop and Datacom in Berwick. She was also employed at Carol’s Restaurant, was a custodian for the Berwick School District, and a nurse’s aide at a few different nursing homes. She retired early due to health issues.
In 1978, she married the love of her life, Robert J Shultz, in the Old River Road Church in Wapwallopen. They shared nearly 45 years of friendship and love prior to her passing. He will miss her greatly in the coming days.
Bettymae was a member Huntington Mills Church of Christ. In her younger years, she enjoyed painting ceramics and plastic canvas needle work. She was an avid reader who spent many hours at the library. When her eyesight got too poor for reading, she started listening to audiobooks. She also liked adult coloring books.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Sarah Shultz, Joshua Shultz, Elyse Shultz and Adam Shultz. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Shultz and brother, William Wallace.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E Third St, Nescopeck. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Nescopeck.
