John “JC” C. Kessler, age 73, of Nescopeck Twp, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Born in Indiana, PA on June 25, 1949, he was a son of the late Merle L. and Katherine (Barnet) Kessler. He was raised and educated in the Indiana area. John entered the U.S. Marines in 1966 and served until 1969, during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge he became a union welder and worked with Bechtel during the construction of the nuclear powerplant and later traveled through various states for union work.
John was a member of Berwick VFW Post 821, where he was a member of the Honor Guard, and Marine Corp League, White Haven.
He will be greatly missed by his son, Matthew J. Kessler; daughter, Sara A. Lorie and husband Justin; grandchildren, Madison and Mason Lorie; sisters, Judy Beatty, Indiana; Jean Roberts; Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Kessler; Dale Kessler; Rick Kessler; and a sister, Patricia Kessler.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E. Third Street, Nescopeck, followed by military honors at 3:00 PM.
