Jack W. Samsel, 86, of Salem Township passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at his home, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Berwick on August 3, 1936, he was a son of the late James and Beatrice (Watts) Samsel. He was a graduate of Berwick High School, class of 1954. Jack worked at Naugle Lumber Yard for many years, until it closed. Later, while living in Virginia Beach, he was employed at Kellam and Eaton, and was currently employed at Tri-County Ace Hardware, Berwick.
Jack was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Berwick. He was an avid John Wayne fan, enjoyed western movies, and country music. He liked fishing, bowling, watching game shows, and original cartoons, his favorites were Family Feud and Tom & Jerry. Jack enjoyed building things in and around the house, as well as taking care of the yard and mowing. He also loved travelling with his daughters.
He will be greatly missed by daughter, Hollie Samsel Albertson, Virginia Beach; son-in-law, Timothy Quinn; grandchildren, Jaysen Samsel, who was adopted as a child at the age of 3, and wife Samantha, Berwick; Jeremy Albertson and wife Michelle, Virginia Beach; Gregory Albertson and wife Jennifer, Virginia Beach; 6 great grandchildren, Morgan, Dylan, Alexis, Andrew, Nathan, and Evan, all from Virginia Beach; sister, Sally Knelly and husband Rick, Stillwater; brother-in-law, Joseph Pataki; several nieces and nephews and his constant companion, his beloved dog, “Benji” .
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lella M. (Naugle) Samsel, on August 14, 2021; daughter, Diane Quinn on January 2, 2020; sisters, Betty Lou Pataki; Judy Samsel; brothers, James Samsel; and Robert Samsel and wife Marge.
At Jack’s request, all services will be private. Heller Funeral Home, LLC, Nescopeck is assisting his family.
