Ruth “Aunt Ruthie” E. Fisher, age 75, of Berwick passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Bloomsburg on September 22, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred (Boop) Knittle. She graduated from Central Columbia High School. She retired from Safety Light Corp, Bloomsburg. After retirement she helped her niece, Donna with her business, Tax Service Plus, on Market St, Berwick.
Ruth was a great cook and enjoyed preparing large meals for everyone. She offered food to anyone who visited and if you left hungry it was your own fault. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crafts.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Scott Fisher and wife Stacy, Berwick; grandchildren, Kristin Gum and husband Jason; Brittany Fisher and companion Josh Brosious; great grandchildren, Waylon and Adaline Gum. She also leaves behind sisters, Marion Kessler; Doris Knittle and Patricia Knittle, all from Bloomsburg, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Jerry O. Fisher in 2020; and brothers, William “Butch” Knittle and Jim Knittle.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on September 9, 2023 at St Peter’s Hargers Union Church, 114 Beaver Valley Road, Bloomsburg convenience of the family. Interment with her husband will follow in the parish cemetery.
