Dorothy “Dottie” Powlus, 80, passed away on Thursday morning, October 19, 2023 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.
Dottie was born in Berwick on August 4, 1943, to Charles Powlus and Margaret (Robsock) Powlus, the eldest of three children.
She graduated with honors from Nescopeck High School in 1961. Dottie loved her Alma Mater and attended several class reunions with her lifelong friends. Her favorite activities were cheerleading and playing the piano for school functions.
Her passion in life was the Women’s Christian Group she formed and led. She planned meetings held at her home, the Salvation Army, and facilities in Berwick. These meetings enabled the group to gather, serve, honor and witness. Dottie was a member of the Berwick Assembly of God.
Survivors include her son, Roger Nunkester and wife Maria; granddaughter, Kristin Arner and husband Dalton; mother, Margaret Powlus; and brother, Gary Powlus and wife Teresa; sister-in-law, Susan Powlus; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Charles, she was preceded by her brother, Ron Powlus.
At Dottie’s request, services will be private.
