Janet Kresge, 83, of Berwick, PA, died on November 17, 2023 at The Gardens of Orangeville nursing home.
Janet was born May 19, 1940 to the late Walter and Helen Podpora. She is survived by her husband, Robert Kresge Sr. of Berwick, PA; her children: Betsy Massa of Nederland, CO, George Gazdzicki of Larksville PA, Bonnie Bowman of Larksville PA, and Deb Lacey of Kunkletown, PA; stepdaughter Sue Hartrum of Washington, NJ; sister Helen Walters of Roswell, NM; brothers: Walter Podpora of Milford, NJ, and Michael Podpora of Pittstown, NJ; and stepsons Tom and David Frankenfield. She was blessed with grandchildren Sarah Lacey, Jamie and Dominic Massa, Richard Lenahan, Jessica and Tyler Kresge, Crystal Vail and Amstel Hartrum.
She was preceded in death n by her parents; first husband Arthur Frankenfield; sister Rosemary Carter of Anchorage, AK; brother Chester Podpora of Kingwood, NJ; stepson Robert Kresge Jr., and granddaughter Amber Vail.
Janet worked for 14 years at Hunterdon State School in Clinton, NJ, from aide to nursing supervisor. She earned her degree in nursing at Somerset County College in 1983 to become an RN. After she and Robert married in August 1986, they fostered developmentally disabled adults in their home, and founded Kresfield, an adult daycare facility in Washington, NJ.
After retiring to Berwick, PA in 2004, Janet volunteered for the Red Cross. She worked disaster relief at hurricane Ivan, Katrina, and more. She loved crocheting and visiting friends and family near and far, as well as memorable trips to Germany and Hawaii.
