Calvin H. Jones, 71, of Berwick passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Berwick on December 20, 1951, he was a son of the late Calvin and Shirley (Folk) Jones. He graduated from Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School in 1970. After graduation, he joined the National Guard where he served until 1976. For many years, he hauled oversize loads both full time and part time. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and retired from Sheet Metal Local 44.
He attended LCBC Church in Bloomsburg. He was a volunteer fire fighter for several local fire departments including Eagle Hose Fire Company where he was formerly a trustee, fire chief, and played on their pool and dart league for many years. He was a former member of VFW Post 820, Berwick. He liked going fishing in Canada and was an avid hunter in his younger years. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles. He became a Saints football fan while residing in New Orleans in the 1980’s.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Sharon (Welsh) Jones; sons, Jason Jones, Nescopeck Twp; Jeremy Jones, Berwick; daughters, Kerri Allen and husband Ricky, Berwick; and Kelli Jones, Berwick; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Elva Kline, Catawissa; and Florence Lockard and husband Alex, Berwick; brother-in-law, Chuck Naus, Beach Haven, and many extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tammy Naus; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Kline.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday December 19, 2023 at 8:00 pm, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. Family will receive friends Tuesday December 19, 2023 from 6:00 pm til time of service.
