Faith Whitmire, age 96, of Mifflinville went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
Faith was born on March 31, 1927, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Rev. Lloyd and Susan Martin.
She graduated from Catawissa High School in 1945 and earned a beautician degree from Empire Beauty School. She was employed at Emenee Shirt Factory, her Father’s toy factory: Martin Toy Factory, Magee Carpet, and retired from the Berwick Knitting Mill in 1990 to help care for her grandchildren.
Faith was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Bloomsburg for over 40 years and the Berwick Senior Center. She loved spending time with her family, entertaining, and making everyone around her laugh. She also loved spending time tending to her flower garden, feeding the birds and squirrels, reading, drawing, camping, politics, and her dogs. Faith was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother, she was independent by nature, taking care of herself in her own home until she was 93.
In addition to her parents, Faith was preceded in death by her husband Verncil Whitmire and her siblings: David Martin, Paul Martin, Christine Roeder, and Lloyd Martin Jr.
Faith will be greatly missed by her family: daughter, Susan Robbins and partner Stan Stout, Mifflinville, daughter, Margaret Mowery and husband Brad, Nescopeck. Grandchildren: Karen Doward and husband Deron, Northampton, USSF Sgt Gretchen Gregory, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Raymond Gregory III, Nescopeck, Daniel Mowery, Berwick, and her great-grandson Elijah Mowery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Humane Society of Danville in her memory. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
