Richard A. Baker

Richard A. Baker, age 83 of Mountain Grove passed away on Monday June 17, 2024, at his home.

Born in Bloomsburg on September 28, 1940, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Ruth M. (Smith) Baker. He was a graduate of Rock Glen High School. He owned and operated Baker’s Garage for over 40 years with his father, retiring 2 years ago.

Richard was a member of Trinity UCC, Rock Glen and attended Trinty Lutheran Church, Mountain Grove. He was a lifetime Golden Eagle member of the NRA, and a member of Tip Top Hunters and Black Creek Rod & Gun Club.  He was a fantastic storyteller. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved animals, had many dogs, pigs, cows, turkeys, racoons, squirrels, skunks, and many other wild critters he found and nursed back to health to release them back into nature.

He was married to his first wife, Sharon (Sholly) Reichenbach for 16 years with whom he had three children, son, Wesley Baker and wife Lisa, Benton; daughters, Angela Speaks and husband Steve, Buckhorn; Christine Brague and husband Jim, Montoursville. He was married to Kathleen Antolick for 33 years and became a stepfather to her 8 children. Kathleen passed away after a short illness in 2015.

He is also preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Baker and wife Bridget, sister, Catherine “Marlene” Hartranft and husband William “Hutch”.

In addition to his children, he will be greatly missed by his companion, Robin L. (Manjone) Baker, to whom he was married for 9 years; 26 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; sister, Diane Schiefer and husband Doug, Zion Grove; and many nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1551 Rock Glen Road, Bloomsburg from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday June 24, 2024, and Tuesday June 25, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverand Christine Kirchner officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove cemetery.
