Derl E. Brown, age 94, of Mifflinville passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Nescopeck on September 30, 1930, he was a son of the late Harold A. and Ethel V. (Hunter) Brown. He attended Nescopeck Schools, and later, served in the U. S. Army National Guard for several years during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. For many years, Derl was employed at Berwick Forge and Fabricating, and retired from G&B Specialties, Berwick.
Derl was an active member of Victory Baptist Church, Bloomsburg. He also was an active volunteer for Amazing Grace Missions, a ministry of Sharing Jesus Christ as the only way of salvation at fairs all across the country. He enjoyed going camping and restoring campers.
In addition to his parents, Derl was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Martha I. (Smith) Brown on May 15, 2021; a sister, Doris Baran; and brother, Richard Brown.
He will be greatly missed by his son, Ricky Brown and wife Joyce, Mifflinville; daughters, Carol Cochran and husband Nathan, Martinsburg, WV; Mary Jo Brown, Martinsburg, WV; Lori Whitebread and husband Robert, Mifflinville; Amy Fuehrer and husband Scott, Mifflinville; grandchildren, Chris, Michael, Aaron, Josh, Jesica, Seth, Michael, and Jonathan; and 6 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Victory Baptist Church, 70 Buckhorn Rd, Bloomsburg, with Pastor Timothy Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Mifflinville Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
