Ruth L. Walters

Ruth L. Walters, 101, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, at the Gardens at Orangeville.

Ruth was born on July 20, 1923, in Danville, the daughter of the late Stewart and Effie (Stetler) Steinruck.

Ruth married her husband LaRue C. Walters on June 21, 1943, who preceded her in death. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. They built their home in Sunken Heights, Bloomsburg where they lived for 56 years.

Ruth was an amazing cook and hostess, welcoming family and friends to gather around her table for a meal, which was always served with her homemade pies. She enjoyed canning and freezing summers bounty; she entered many items in the Bloomsburg Fair where she humbly won several awards. She also liked to crochet. Ruth was a member of the Bloomsburg Baptist Church, Almedia. She loved and served the Lord, as well as her family.

She is survived by her children: daughter, LouAnn Tarlecky, Danville; and son, Terry W. Walters and wife Audrey, Bloomsburg; 5 grandchildren, Ann Hess; Amy Osborne and husband Kevin; Jon Ferguson and wife Tammy; Sheri Moss-Loder and husband William; Brian Walters and wife Lisa; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mariette Kressler and a brother, Doyle Steinruck.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Bloomsburg Baptist Church, Almedia. Interment will be in the New Rosemont Cemetery Espy. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
