R. Joyce Cole, age 96, of Bloomsburg passed away on Saturday morning, October 26, 2024, at Celebration Villa, where she was a guest for the past year.
Born in Bloomsburg on September 20, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Elias E. and Rita C. (Golder) McHenry. She was a graduate of Bloomsburg High School, class of 1946. For many years, Joy worked at Weller Vending, Shamokin.
Joy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Espy. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and visiting the casinos. She liked reading, and when her eyesight began to fail, she started listening to audio books. In her younger years, she was involved in league bowling, where she received several awards.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Rodney R. Cole and wife Sandra, Berwick; grandson, Marc Cole and companion April; great grandchildren, Kaleb, Kailey, and Madisen Cole; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by an estranged daughter, Rhonda Frey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cole; grandson, Robert P. Cole; brothers, Edward, James, Garth and Richard McHenry; and a sister, Jessie Haas.
All services will be private at the convenience of her family. She will be buried next to her husband in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
