Helen F. Snyder

Helen F. Snyder, age 100, of Berwick passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Glenbrook Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Born in West Hazleton on October 5, 1924, she was the last living of 6 children born to the late John F. and Marion (Fetzer) Buchman. She attended school in Berwick and Hazleton Area School Districts. At the age of 15 she began working at a local sewing factory and continued through the years with local factories including Milco and Knit Modes. Later, she worked at Grants and Kmart. She retired from Berwick Retirement Village. After retirement, she and her niece co-owned Sew Biz Craft Shop.

Helen was a talented quilter, who made a quilt for each of her grandchildren and other family members. She also sewed and crocheted many items and clothes. She enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together with her daughter. She liked flowers and tended to her flower gardens. She loved all her pets that she had throughout the years, but her favorite was her tailless calico, Maggie Mae.

She loved spending time with her family to whom she passed down many of her skills, including sewing, making chocolate cake, bread pudding, and her sometimes stubborn attitude. Her family was very lucky to have had her in their lives for so long.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Beathier Schloyer; and second husband, Robert J. Snyder; son in law, Robert Eddinger; grandson, Eric Schloyer; brothers, Martin Buchman and Helms Buchman; sisters, Phoebe Slusser, Mae Rex, and Elizabeth Kromis; and several nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed by her children: Katherine Eddinger, Berwick; David Schloyer, West Palm Beach, FL; Jeff Schloyer, Berwick; stepsons, Dennis Snyder and Duane Snyder; grandchildren, Michelle Kimbell and husband Dave, Erin Schloyer, Steve Schloyer and Emilie Schloyer; great grandchildren, Mason and Sydney Kimbell; and a niece, Arlene Wolford.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday January 29, 2025, at Heller Funeral Home LLC, 663 East Third Street, Nescopeck. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg, will be private. Family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the time of service.
