Mary L. Jensen Weeks, age 92 of Hobbie, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Mountain Top Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Born in Wapwallopen on May 29, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John Guastavino and Pauline (Deconcini) Molitoris. She was a graduate of Nescopeck High School, class of 1952. In her younger years, she worked for different companies in the area, including the Berwick Gas office, Consolidated Cigar and Rea & Derick.
After getting married to her first husband Richard Lee Jensen in 1953, she was devoted to providing a loving home for her children. She was a paper hanger, a seamstress, and a baker. She could make any wedding arrangement come true, from gowns to wedding cakes all from her home. After the passing of Richard, she became a floral designer at Boscov’s in Hazleton for many years. In the midst of life, Mary met William G. Weeks, to whom she fell in love with and married in 1983.
Mary was the President of Hobbie Fire Co Ladies Auxiliary in the 60’s and a member of the Liberty Club, Hobbie. She was a Girl Scout Cadet Leader, a Cub Scout Den Mother and a lifeguard for the Girl’s Scouts. Mary was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. She was a very talented artist, and painted around 170 oil paintings, which she sold and gave to people. She loved being in her garden every morning and enjoyed water Aerobics.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William G. Weeks; her first husband Richard Lee Jensen; and stepdaughter, Kimberly Iasimone.
She will be greatly missed by her children, John Jensen and wife Donna, Wapwallopen; Richard Jensen and wife, Diane, Nescopeck; Daniel Jensen and wife Cindy, Wapwallopen; Linda Jarrard and husband Harry, Nescopeck; Andrew Jensen and wife Tiffany, Wapwallopen; stepchildren, Gerald Weeks and wife Debra, Dillsburg; Robert Weeks and wife Jacinta, Drums; Debra Benedict and partner Shawn McAleenan, New Smyrna, FL; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters, Jean Kubasko and husband Dennis, Wilmington DL; Angeline Kozakiwicz and husband Stanley, Goose Creek, SC; sisters-in-law, Claire Guastavino, Philadelphia; Janet D. McClure, Orangeburg, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11:00am on Saturday June 21, 2025, at St. James Lutheran Church, 827 E County Road, Wapwallopen, with her pastor, Reverend Oliver Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of service.
