Anne Marie Shelhamer

Anne Marie Shelhamer, 86, passed away on June 27, 2025, at Glen Brook Rehabilitation following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Anne was born in Nescopeck on September 25, 1938, the daughter of Herman and Faye Shelhamer. She graduated from the Nescopeck High School and moved to Philadelphia where she attended Temple University. Anne became employed at the Bell Telephone Company and later, the Sun Oil Company.

With her parents aging and needing care, she moved back to Berwick to care for them. Anne lived the majority of her life caring for others. She worked for Comfort Keepers, Bloomsburg, until a few months before her passing.

While living in Philadelphia, she heard the wonderful saving message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and trusted Him as her Savior. She was a longtime faithful member of Cross Point Bible Church in Berwick, where she served in various ministries, including Vacation Bible School. She was a real cheerleader for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child, and also a proud member of the Red Hat Society, decorating her Christmas tree with red hats. Anne loved the company of her pet cats, and she enjoyed working on many crafts and jigsaw puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Shelhamer.

She is survived by several cousins, and many friends.

Anne deeply loved her church and considered them to be her family. Her church also loved her and admired her faithful walk with the Lord through very difficult physical challenges.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, 1 PM, July 12, 2025, at Cross Point Bible Church, 1426 Spring Garden Ave., Berwick, with her pastor, the Rev. Brad Iverson, officiating. A dessert time at the church is planned immediately following the service. Interment will be private at the Mifflinville Cemetery with arrangements by Heller’s Funeral Home, LLC, Nescopeck.

At Anne’s request, in lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to Cross Point Bible Church or to Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child, PO BOX 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
