John W. Weikel, Jr., age 89, of Wapwallopen passed away on July 2, 2025, at Heritage Hill Senior Community, Weatherly.
Born September 24, 1935, he was the son of the late John W. Weikel, Sr. and Kathryn (Boyer) Weikel. He attended Shamokin Area High School. He worked in New Jersey prior to moving to Kentucky in 1971. When he first moved to Kentucky, he had a civilian job at Fort Knox and later worked at the pickle factory. He retired from Bakery Chef and moved back to Pennsylvania in 2020.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He liked going on walks and tinkering in the garage. John loved having a coffee at Perkins in Hazleton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline A. (Thomas) Weikel; son, Richard Weikel; 2 sons in infancy; grandson, John Weikel; and brother James Weikel.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Kathryn Moyer and husband Denny, Wapwallopen; grandchildren, Mitzi Spring; Rebecca Moyer; Ray Moyer and wife Madison; great grandchildren, Ava; Matilyn “Maddie”; Logan; Chase; Millie; and Grace; and sister, Kay Bennett and husband David, DE.
Private memorial and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Heller Funeral Home LLC, Nescopeck is assisting his family.
