Phyllis D. Travelpiece, age 97, of Hobbie passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025, at The Gardens at Millville.
Born in Berwick on December 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Grassley and Carl Davis.
On July 20, 1946, she married her loving husband, Luther Ray Travelpiece. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in a farming accident on February 7, 1998.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially during the holidays.
For 32 years, Phyllis was the Hollenback Township Tax Collector. She also has over 40 years of community service with Red Cross Blood drives and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Saint Peters United Church of Christ, Hobbie and assisted with the fire company carnival serving French fries for many years.
In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis also was preceded in death by her daughter Wanda Lee Travelpiece on April 30, 1949; daughter-in-law, Susan Travelpiece; brothers, Russel Davis, Robert Davis and Kenneth Davis; sisters, Betty Fish, Evelyn Richards and Barbara Bacon; and a stepbrother, Bill Reagan.
She will be greatly missed by her beloved children: David Travelpiece; Barry Travelpiece and wife Colleen; Mark Travelpiece and wife Mary Jo; Terry Travelpiece and wife Jacklyn, all from Hobbie; and daughter Jill Karchner and husband Duane of Nescopeck; 12 cherished grandchildren; and 22 adored great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister, Shirley Brown, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service were be held at the convenience of her family. Phyllis will be buried next to her husband in Silver Maple Cemetery, Hobbie.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial service at 10:00am on November 1, 2025, at St Peters UCC, Hobbie. Family will receive friends from 9:00am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in her memory to St. Peters UCC, 613 W County Rd, Wapwallopen, PA 18660 or Silver Maple Cemetery c/o Paul Good, 499 Moyers Grove Rd, Wapwallopen.
