Marjorie L. Yachimowski, age 87, of Nescopeck Township passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born in Slocum on March 3, 1938, she was the last living of 5 children born to the late John H. and Margaret (Heller) Rinehimer. She graduated from Newport Township High School, class of 1956.
On March 16, 1957, she married the love of her life, Edward Yachimowski. Together they celebrated 68 years of marriage.
Over the years she held various positions at many local businesses including, Consolidated Cigar, Lady Ester, Weis Markets, banks in Berwick and Nescopeck, Keefer and Company where she was the store manager, Rea & Derick Drug Store, and the Coblentz Store. After retirement, she enjoyed working at Scott Edwards Floral and Good Time Golf, Nescopeck.
She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Bible Church, Nescopeck.
Marjorie’s attention centered around providing a loving home for her husband and children. She enjoyed cooking, especially trying out new recipes, planting her flowers, tending to her gardens, and canning various fruits and vegetables. She also loved to sew and provided her “homemade bunnies” to family and friends throughout the years. Her other activities included camping and swimming with her family, reading her Bible, the newspaper, and mystery novels, completing crossword puzzles and playing card games with her family and friends.
She is also remembered for hosting large family gatherings, including the annual Memorial and Labor Day picnics.
Outside of the home, Marjorie’s love for people included volunteering for the Red Cross, the Boy Scouts of America, and holding the office of treasurer for St Paul’s pre-school at St Paul’s United Methodist Church, Berwick.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Edward Yachimowski; sons, Alan Yachimowski and wife Debra, Nescopeck; Bradley Yachimowski and wife Linda, Nescopeck; granddaughters, Megan Klinger and husband Kolby, Rebekah and Brenna Yachimowski, all from Nescopeck; two great grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Rinehimer; sisters, Florence Mowery; Myrtle Gurkovich; and Shirley Ryman.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Cornerstone Bible Church, 208 Church Rd, Nescopeck. A celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Jim Winder officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick.
