Cathy L. Samsel, age 70, of Berwick passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at her home. Her twin sister Cindy, and soul mate David, who cared for her during her illness were by her side along with other family members.
Born in Berwick on November 4, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Frank Chea and Arlene F. (Rough) Samsel Chea. She was a graduate of Berwick Senior High School, class of 1975. For Over 47 years, Cathy worked at Berwick Ribbon Factory, Berwick.
She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Nescopeck. Cathy loved being with her family. She was very creative and enjoyed scrap booking and crocheting. She loved travelling, over the years she has visited many places including, California, Niagara Falls, and most recently Disney with her family and friends. She took many trips to the beach and spent a week each summer at Knoebel’s Covered Wagon with her family. She loved riding motorcycles with her life partner, David, and together they participated in the Camp Victory fundraising ride every year.
She will be greatly missed by her life partner and soul mate, David Cragle with whom she spent the past 16 years; twin sister, Cindy Cope and husband Joseph Sr, Berwick; sisters, Judy Matsko and husband Michael Jr, Ocean View, DE; Joan Traugh, Berwick; many nieces and nephews including, Michael Matsko III and wife Tricia, Rehoboth Beach, DE; Matthew J. Matsko and wife Julia, North Wales, PA; Joseph L. Cope Jr and wife Christina, Mountaintop; Christopher Cope and wife Karissa, Berwick; and numerous great nephews and nieces including, Luke and Brendan Matsko; Hunter and Cole Matsko; Bryce and Kayla Cope; and Austin Cope; and many cousins. Cathy was known as “Grammy” to David’s grandchildren, Addy and Bella, and she always enjoyed his daughters and their families, Krystal and Tiffany. Cathy also leaves behind a dear friend Carol Herbinko from Drums, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald Samsel; Larry Samsel; Bill Samsel.
At Cathy’s request all services will be private at the convenience of her family. She will be buried in Rose Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
