Bertha “Birdie” Mae Cleaver, age 78, of Berwick passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Glenbrook Rehab and Nursing Center in Berwick where she had resided for 3 years.
Born in Berwick on March 11, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Violet (Mensinger) Cleaver. She graduated from Berwick High School.
She was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Zenith. She enjoyed riding bikes and competing in the Special Olympics in her younger years. Birdie took pleasure in doing crafts and loved animals, especially her cats which she endearingly called “Stinky”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings: a sister, Martha Martz and a brother Fred Cleaver Jr.
Birdie will be greatly missed by her sister Terilla “Tillie” Weaver of Berwick and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is being planned for this spring. She will be laid to rest next to her parents in Mifflinville Cemetery.
