Eugene “Pappy” W. Longenberger, Sr., age 75, of Berwick passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon at his home, February 7, 2026.
Born in Berwick on February 25, 1950, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Dora E. (Bauman) Longenberger. Eugene attended Berwick Area Senior High School. He worked for Harold Hough prior to opening his own construction and roofing company, E&L Construction, which he owned for 30+ years before retiring in 2005.
He was a lifelong resident of the Berwick area. Eugene enjoyed gambling, flea markets, fairs, carnivals and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the American Ukrainian Citizens Club, “Old Mans Club”, Berwick VFW Post #821, Berwick Russian Glee Club and Eagle Hose Fire Co.
He will be greatly missed by his sons, Eugene Longenberger Jr. and wife Lori, Robert Longenberger, Sr. and wife Tammy, Shawn Balas and wife Lindsey; grandchildren, Robert Jr., Travis, Samantha, Lois, Dakota, Mya, Mason; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Madelynn. He also leaves behind his dear friend and love of his life, Deborah Longenberger; brothers, Dale and Ronald Longenberger; and sister, Linda Talanca, all of Berwick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; brothers, Robert and William Billman; sister, Beverly Davis, and brother-in-law Steve Talanca.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, February 13, 2026, and at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, Nescopeck immediately followed by a memorial service.
