Howard “Jake” Walck, Jr, age 96, of Berwick passed away on Monday morning, March 30, 2026, at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
Born in Slocum Township on December 10, 1929, he was a son of the late Howard J. and Margaret (Clausen) Walck. He was a graduate of Newport Township High School. For 40 years he worked at Berwick Shirt Factory and later worked part time at the Berwick Police Station. He also worked at the Berwick Weaving Mill and Weis Markets. Most of the time he held two jobs at once to provide the best possible life for his family.
Jake was an active member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, Berwick. He was very proud of his family and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Susan Boone and husband, Elwood, Berwick; son, Dennis Walck and wife Mary, Berwick; cherished grandchildren, Jason Boone and wife Deanna, Florida; Megan Williams and husband Kody, Georgia; and 5 adored great grandchildren: Nadia, Callista, Lillian, Harold, Theodore. He also leaves behind a sister, Lorraine Hoffman, Slocum Twp; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Bette L. Walck on July 3, 2018; son, Edward at birth; brothers, James Walck and Elmer Walck; sisters, Alice “Doretta” Romberger, Ruth Stein, and Clara Belle Walck in infancy.
At Jake’s request, all services will be private at the convenience of the family.
