Robert E. Dawson

Robert E. Dawson, age 83, of Wapwallopen passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Birchwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Nanticoke.

Born in Berwick on December 6, 1942, he was one of 11 children born to the late Lawrence and Ardina (Weiss) Dawson. He attended Nescopeck High School and in 1964, he entered U.S. Army where he served honorably until 1966, during the Vietnam War. Bob was employed at Heinz Pet Products for many years. After retirement, he worked for Conyngham Township and assisted at Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck. Bob worked hard to provide for his family, and even while holding full-time employment, he also had his own combine and did custom combine work for many farms in the area. He also picked apples for Heller’s Orchard and was a dealer for Seedway.

Bob was a member of St John’s United Church of Christ, Wapwallopen where he previously served on the council. He enjoyed hunting and tinkering outside on different projects. He loved animals and liked spending time on the family farm.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Diane B. (Hinchcliff) Dawson, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage this past February. He also leaves behind a daughter, Carrie Miller and husband William, Shickshinny; son, Corey Dawson and wife Larissa, Nanticoke; cherished grandchildren, Makaela, Maggie, Billy, Ty, “Cool hand Luke”, Taylin, and Rylin; brother, Bill Dawson, Hobbie, sister, Carol Dawson, Hobbie; and generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ila Mae Dawson; and brothers, Doyle, Dave, Lawrence “Art”, Richard “Dick”, Tom, Glenwood and Ray Dawson.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. John’s U.C.C., 416 Church St, Wapwallopen. Interment will follow in Old River Road Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday April 8, 2026, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E Third St, Nescopeck, and Thursday April 9, 2026, at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. John’s U.C.C., 416 Church St, Wapwallopen, PA 18660.
