Elizabeth I. (Probst) Mowery, age 76, of Berwick passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville after a brief illness.
Born in Berwick on July 29, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Theron and Audrey E (Slusser) Probst. She was a member of the last graduating class of Nescopeck High School. Betty worked at Berwick Ribbon Factory, and later at Akers Manufacturing. After the sewing factory closed, she returned to Berwick Offray and worked there until last year.
Betty was a member of Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nescopeck. She enjoyed travelling and was able to take cruises and trips to Ireland, England, France, Germany, Italy, Bermuda, Alaska and several places throughout the United States. She enjoyed camping at Eyers Grove, especially with her family. She also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles on Monday nights with her niece, Tammy.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Darwin E. Mowery, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage this past March. She also leaves behind sons, Tim Mowery and wife Heidi, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Tom Mowery and wife Michelle, Berwick; grandchildren, Erika Starkey; Jessica Mowery; Chris Mowery and Hazlee Mowery; and 3 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Nikki Mowery; great granddaughter Mia Traver; a sister, Patricia Jones; and brothers, Terry Probst and Steven Probst.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 7, 2026 in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
