Larry A. Chapin

Larry A. Chapin, age 88, of Wapwallopen passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his home.

Born in Nanticoke on December 26, 1937, he was the son of the late Fred and Mabel (Andress) Chapin, Sr. He was raised and educated in Wapwallopen, where he was a life-long resident. For nearly 50 years he worked for various construction companies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey as a heavy equipment operator. He was a co-owner of L&C Repairs where he and his partner, Charlie, repaired and sold snowmobiles.

He was a member of St John’s United Church of Christ, Wapwallopen. He liked snowmobile racing in Red Rock. He was a gadget guy, professional tinkerer and “jack of all trades and master of none”.

He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Deborah Deschaine, NJ; Cynthia Titman, Berwick; son, David Chapin and wife Suzanne, Nanticoke; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Michael, Tabitha, Natasha, Brooke; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Ralph Chapin and wife Gloria of PA; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his companion of 18 years, Judy Schnerr; her children, Wendy Schnerr, South Port, NC; Susie Spaide and husband Jim, Nescopeck; Larry Schnerr Jr and wife Peggy, Millville; Laurie Dreher and husband Scott, Gratz; and their children, Hannah, Larry III, Cody, Brittany, Scott, Pierce and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve “Pat” (Baucher) Chapin; sisters, Harriet Chapin, Edna Wenner, Edith Sigfreid, and Beatrice Miller; brothers, Howard Chapin, Harold Chapin, Fred Chapin Jr, and Richard Chapin.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at St John’s United Church of Christ, 416 Church Rd, Wapwallopen. Interment will follow in Wapwallopen (Old River Rd) Cemetery. Family will received friends from 10:00 until the time of service at the church.
