Carol Wrede Sands

Carol Wrede Sands, age 90, of Ocala, FL and formerly of Bloomsburg went home with the Lord on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in Florida.

Born in LaPorte, PA on June 30, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Robert F. and Kathryn (Gumble) Wrede. She attended Scott School in Bloomsburg. For over 20 years, she was employed at Bloomsburg University as a custodian.

Carol had a deep faith and love of God. She was a member of Bloomsburg Christian Church, where she formed many lasting friendships.

In 1952, she married her beloved husband Gary F. Sands. They were married for 52 years prior to his passing in 2004. Together they raised 3 children and welcomed grandchildren and great grandchildlren. Carol loved her family and devoted her time providing a loving home for them.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Nancy Lee, wife of Dale, Hunlock Creek; Kim Eckroth, wife of Adrian, Ocala, FL; son, Stephen Sands, Berwick; cherished grandchildren, John English and wife Dorette, Patti Armstrong and husband Adam, and David Yohey; and adored great grandchildren, Jacob English, Jocelyn English, Emily Grosz, and Karlie Grosz. She also leaves behind sisters, Jean Bucher; Linda Mont, wife of Paul; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Eliese English and brother, Robert Wrede.

A Celebration of Life to be held in Bloomsburg for her family and friends is being planned for later this summer. She will be buried next to her husband in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville at the convenience of her family.
