Jolene Y. Lupashunski, age 97, of Nescopeck passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Celebration Villa, Berwick where she had been residing for the past 3 years.
Born in Nescopeck on May 28, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Thomas W. and Ethel M. (Dawson) Powlus. She was a graduate of Nescopeck High School, class of 1946. For many years, she worked at Wise Potatoes.
Jolene was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Nescopeck. She volunteered at the Hope Center for many years. She enjoyed reading and working on crossword puzzles.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Michael Lupashunski, West Virginia; 3 grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Demarco and husband James, Berwick; brother, Richard “Dick” Powlus and wife Hope; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Lupashunski who died in 2009; her daughter, Cathy Jane; a grandson, Richard; sisters, Harriet Hutton, Joan Baer, Nancy Lupashunski, and Gayle Powlus; and brothers, Harry Powlus, William Powlus, and Thomas Powlus.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Compassus Hospice and Celebration Villa for the love and care they provided.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on June 17, 2026, in Ss Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Berwick, where she will be buried next to her husband.
