Robert L. Garrison

Robert L. Garrison, age 81, of Berwick passed away on Wednesday June 10, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Wapwallopen on August 5, 1944, he was a son of the late Elwood T. and H. Louise (Brennan) Garrison.

He graduated from Berwick Area High School, class of 1961.  He furthered his education by earning his bachelor’s degree in education at Bloomsburg University. Robert was a science and biology teacher for more than 25 years at Danville Area High School, where he was recognized in 2019 by the Danville senior class of 1989 and the Danville school district, where he served as their Class Advisor.

He was an avid sports fan, he loved Penn State football, the Philadelphia Eagles, and enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies.  Along with his wife, he supported the Bloomsburg University Football team and together they were long-time members of the Husky club. This past fall he was introduced to fantasy football by his niece Shannon and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and all the extra conversations he had with her on the topic.   He enjoyed watching the birds from his sunroom and spending time by his pond watching the tadpoles and fish.   He enjoyed the annual summer vacations he took with friends and family and delighted in the planning of each trip.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Wendy L. Garrison, Harrisburg; his beloved niece, Shannon Garrison, Nescopeck; and many friends who he considered family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane L. (Hartzel) Garrison; son, Scott L. Garrison; brother Jon E. Garrison and sister-in-law, Robin A. Garrison.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1315 Fairview Ave, Berwick. Family and friends will be received at church from 9:30 AM until time of service. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
