Cathy “Becky” R. (Hontz) Rinehimer, age 73, of Hobbie, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Berwick on January 3, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Howard H. and Zelda G. (Wida) Hontz. She was a graduate of Berwick Area High School, class of 1972. Becky worked hard to provide a loving home for her family. She loved taking care of children and over the years, babysat many local children whom she adored, at her home in Hobbie.
Becky was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and involved in Bible School. She was also involved with her local community and volunteered with many events. She loved quilting and sewing. She enjoyed sitting on the porch and adoring the family farm while watching her grandkids play and listening to the birds. She loved her cat “Fluffy”.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Larry L. Rinehimer, Sr.; daughter, Tammy Madara and husband Dave, Nescopeck; son, Larry Rinehimer, Jr. and wife Lori, Hobbie. She was known as “Mimi” to her cherished grandchildren; Peighton, Leo, Sophia, and Alana Madara, Lily and Cam Rinehimer. She leaves behind a sister, Beth Ann Thomas and husband Dave, Hobbie; sister-in-law, Darla Frace and husband Dennis, Hobbie; brother-in-law, Harry Williams, Nescopeck; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: brother, John Hontz; sister, Cindy Williams; and brothers-in-laws Jamie and Dennis Rinehimer.
Family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Heller Funeral Home LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, immediately followed by a memorial service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. James Lutheran Church, 827 E County Rd, Wapwallopen, Pennsylvania.
